Here are three miscellaneous things for you to consider, as you are preparing for the trip:
1) Airport parking - Maybe you already have family or friends to drop you off and pick you up at RDU. Maybe you are taking a taxi or shuttle. But if you plan to park your car at the airport, here are the main options:
RDU Airport Park and Ride is $6/day. You park at a remote lot, walk to the shuttle stop and it comes by on a regular schedule to drop you at the terminal.
Fast Park & Relax is probably $7/day. You park in covered parking, the van comes to your car and drops you at the terminal. (There is a loyalty program)
2) Bathing Suit- we will be visiting the Dead Sea, and you could take a quick dip, if you'd like! The water temperature there is currently 65 degrees (F)-- too chilly for me to do much more than wade, but go for it, if you want!
The hotel where we will be staying in Jerusalem for 3 nights does have an indoor pool.
3) Be prepared! While we are there, we might find some rest room facilities that are not well-stocked. (there is usually a plate by the door, inviting an offering of 50 cents or so... so: change is one good thing to carry) It's always good to have extra tissues in your pocket and hand sanitizer, just in case!
